ARTIST STATEMENT
The way I work is that I use a charcoal rubbing technique that produces prints on traditional handmade Japanese washi paper. The space has simplicity, quietness, and sense of unity. In 2004, I start using crystal clear plastic adding onto my basic materials. Plastic is usually thought of as a cheap and disposable product in our modern everyday life, but I tried to use this synthetic material in a different way.
Most importantly, I believe that what is transferred from object to
paper is more than just physical markings. Rather, it is the very
"soul" of the natural object. |
